Of the sixteen tracks here, ten are duets and the other 6 are split between the two players. Instantly the pieces are a wide mixture of Latin and Flamenco and the first things you notice is how clearly recorded the two players are. Of course it goes without saying how fabulous their performances are. Speaking personally I didn’t know hardly any of these pieces although I do know some of Guastavino’s and Yupanqui‘s other works. So as an album of completely new (to me) material I found it very involving and I would definitely like to see some of the scores of some of these pieces if they were available, for the arrangements and compositions are very varied and always lovely music to listen to , and( I imagine , also,) to play !
If you like the Latin sound but also with a good mix of modern harmonies too (nothing atonal you understand) , then you will enjoy this very pleasant album
