SOLO MUSICA: CD
This is one of the most remarkable recordings I have EVER heard. I knew of the Katona Twins but until now managed to miss any of their playing. All I can say is that this CD has one of the most remarkable sounds and some of the most stunning playing I have ever heard come from classical guitars. It really does have to be heard to be believed.
Of course several tracks you will recognise including the wonderful Queen track Bohemian Rhapsody that opens this album. This really does set the scene for the forthcoming pieces, as it is a stunning piece of writing by itself, before anyone attempts to arrange it for 2 guitars. The result is seemingly effortless .Then we find the two Beatles’ tracks, and the Doors’ Light My Fire just to name three more before come across the 5 pieces by the twins, either written by both of them , or in three cases, one of them. Their ability to play the most difficult sounding passages and yet make them sound believable and nothing like as tricky as they obviously are almost makes you at times, disbelieve what you are hearing. Also there are a number of tracks where they appear to be improvising certain parts, which in itself, is quite a feat.
Wonderful music, clearly recording and fabulously played. What more could you want?
