How does an album where every track is a pizzicato sound? Slightly unusual I thought when I saw the track listing, but I gave it a listen and was immediately struck by three different musical lines on Delicate Pizzicati, and therefore I gather that this was multi – tracked .Every track is short, by the way. The next track was again in several lines and again all played pizzicato, and therefore sounded very similar to the opening track. After the third track had sounded again very similar, I was beginning to wonder how much actual variety there was going to be. The fourth track Gentle Pizzicati was slightly different, sounding a little Baroque in style but then again, it was all very much, in the end like the other tracks, as there was absolutely no variety in sound whatsoever.
I must be honest. It was cleverly played, and nicely recorded but it was FAR too much of one sound, and nothing else. I cannot see anyone wanting to play the entire album in one go, even though it was a short album compared to others. So if it was a sound experiment, I am afraid, for me at least, it really didn’t work.
