Silvio Martinez Rengifo

Bergmann : 8 pages

Columbian – born Rengifo is a well known player, writer and pedagogue and has a large number of works for guitar published along with a number of other works for piano, and other instruments, and has written a great deal  of music and theory books ,particularly about the Iberoamerican musical styles.

This latest piece is subtitled Pasillo and is in Dm and 3 / 4 and has all the offbeat rhythms that you might expect, but nothing too complex. There three main sections to the piece, and whilst it does move around quite a bit and have a number of bar chords to keep you occupied it’s not more than moderately difficult.

The melodies and harmonies are quite pleasant and everything is tonal throughout, and so the piece does have a warm and friendly feel to it, and therefore it would suit the players who like their music with this Latin feel to it
