I have reviewed pieces by a Marianne Vedral before, who is mentioned in the fourth piece here, so I can only assume that they are related. This however is the first time that I have seen music by Wolfgang Vedral.
These five pieces are instantly melodic, full of emotive harmony work, and when you play them , you do get the feeling that they are somehow familiar in content.
The title piece Golden Memories is first, set in D Major and in the middle section D Minor, in a gentle 3 / 4 time. The music is full of arpeggiated sequences that are pleasant, and although a little obvious harmonically speaking, none the less, a nice piece to play
A Thoughtful Moment is also in 3/ 4 and in D minor. The arpeggiated feel to this piece is again, pleasant but a little bit like the previous piece, musically speaking. Not too difficult to play, it is not very original in style, but again a nice one to get your fingers round.
Comfort Song is in 4/4 in C Major and is largely chord driven, with again, the occasional arpeggio sequence, and very much like many other pieces you may have come across.
The Time With You has a 5th string to G and a 6th to D, and is in D Major 4/4 time .This piece is a little more adventurous musically , and is perhaps the hardest to play of the five, but nice and involving.
The final work is Dankeslied (Thank You Song) , again in D Major 4/4 time. This final one – pager is again a little like some of the previous pieces, so that it is pleasant but not very original , and let’s face it, with four out of the five pieces in D Major or minor, there are bound to be places where similarities can be heard.
The thing is, these are all nice pieces, not too difficult, but certainly they won’t sound very original, which means that if you like your pieces different , this set is not for you, but if you like your pieces emotional and pleasant, then this book certainly is right up your street!
